PRIMARY School Electives AND INTERSESSIONS
DesignX’s mission is to promote enduring human values of creative expression and making in primary school age learners via programs in fashion and toy design. The FUN, innovative and engaging ‘Design’ and ‘Make’ Programs explore and build on the creative confidence of students as young as 7y, empowering them to make their ideas a reality! The programs developed thoughtfully over the last decade has empowered over 7000 young designers and makers in Silicon Valley, nurturing skills like envisioning, visualizing, measuring, planning, constructing and finally sharing at Fashion Shows and Expos. Our instructors are professionals who enjoy the creative process and sharing their talents with the youngest gen.
DesignX curricula for elementary schools has been piloted and implemented at the innovative electives pathway at Laurel Mountain Elementary School, Austin, TX.
DesignX curricula for middle schools has been implemented at cutting-edge intersessions at Nueva Middle School, Hillsborough, CA.
DesignX curricula is flexible and may be tailored to suit the needs of individual schools.
Fashion Design
In this LIVE creative program that may be offered virtually or in-person, students have fun unleashing their creativity as they design for challenges – in the process learning how to manipulate fabrics and textiles to achieve desired aesthetics and about sustainability in the fashion industry and the small ways in which they can become better stewards of our planet.
Students in this class will:
- Develop an appreciation for fashion as an authentic and timeless form of human expression
- Be introduced to the creative process behind developing fashions that inspire and create trends
- Be exposed to fashion design concepts and associated vocabulary
